Recuerdos de mi Barrio is the title of a mural, under commission by the SACDC that chronicles the rich history of a Mexican American community whose story originates during the Mexican Revolution of 1910. Many of the families fleeing this civil war settled on the near Westside of San Antonio. Utilizing a unique design by muralist David Blancas, the mural documents some of the historic facts, events, challenges and achievements of these people and their descendants. The intent is to inform and educate future generations and promote pride among current and past inhabitants of the Westside.
